First graphical improvements - 0.3.1


The next release is taking more time than anticipated. But in the meantime I released the version 0.3.1 with all the good stuff that was added since the last release. One of the most notable changes is, that this release is not only a jar file but a complete executable for Windows or Linux so now you don't need to install Java on your machine in order to play this game.

All avatars are improved and now have a real pixel art look. The main game screen also got a revision and now displays more information. The mini map and objectives list was moved to the right side of the screen. In the bottom there is place for messages to be displayed and on the left side are some player stats. To display these player stats the stats were actually also created, so now the player has additional shields and armor and the weapons now have limited ammunition.

The features planned for the next major release are hopefully animated characters though right now I am not sure how and if I will manage to do this. Actions will be leaving a trace like shells lying around, footsteps of characters, blood of hit enemies and even dead bodies of deceased characters. So I might have to check the content rating for my game.

What is your opinion on the frequency of releases? Do you want to have as much tiny step releases as possible, for example after each feature is implemented or do you think its enough to only release the major milestones? Please leave a comment. I would like to have your thoughts on this.
